Vietnam intensifies efforts to identify war martyr remains
Vietnam is intensifying efforts to identify and collect the remains of war martyrs through various regional and national initiatives.
In Ca Mau Province, authorities at Vinh Loi Martyrs' Cemetery have begun collecting biological samples from 160 unidentified remains for DNA testing. Despite heavy rain, teams are working to digitize data and complete the sampling process to ensure accurate identification.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the ‘500-day campaign’ for searching and identifying martyr remains has achieved significant milestones. The city has completed biological sampling at all 18 local martyrs' cemeteries, collecting 9,854 samples, of which 7,104 are qualified for DNA testing. Efforts are also ongoing in the Le Thi Rieng Park area, formerly the Do Thanh Cemetery.
To support these operations, the General Department of Logistics and Engineering in Hanoi has completed the acceptance of specialized vehicles. This includes 19 Hyundai County buses modified for transporting remains and 59 Isuzu 1.5-ton trucks to assist search and collection teams.
