Vietnam intensifies price management and market controls

Vietnam is intensifying efforts to control inflation and market stability during the final quarter of 2026. Following a 4.52% increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the first nine months of the year, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang issued Official Dispatch No. 70/CD-TTg to strengthen price management and administration.

Authorities are addressing risks from geopolitical instability, energy price fluctuations, and rising logistics costs. The government aims to ensure smooth goods circulation and early identification of price-driving factors to meet inflation targets amidst rising year-end consumer demand.

On a local level, Market Management Team No. 6 has implemented strict controls to prevent smuggling and commercial fraud. In the first nine months of 2026, the team handled 56 cases involving 60 violations, resulting in 678.5 million VND in administrative fines and the destruction of goods worth over 573.3 million VND. Key enforcement areas include counterfeit branded goods such as clothing and accessories, as well as food safety violations involving smuggled or unverified food products like confectionery and frozen foods.
