Vietnam inflation and market stability management

In late 2026, the Vietnamese government intensified efforts to manage inflation and stabilize the macroeconomy following a 4.52% increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) during the first nine months of the year. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang issued Official Dispatch No. 70/CD-TTg to strengthen price administration in response to geopolitical instability, energy price fluctuations, and rising logistics costs.

Local enforcement, such as Market Management Team No. 6, focused on preventing smuggling, commercial fraud, and the sale of counterfeit or unverified food products. Concurrently, the Ministry of Finance implemented synchronized measures to monitor supply and demand, prevent hoarding, and penalize price manipulation. These actions aim to protect livelihoods following a base salary adjustment implemented on July 1, 2026.

While authorities addressed inflationary risks, domestic consumption showed growth, with retail sales and consumer service revenue increasing by 13.3% in the first nine months of 2026. To maintain this momentum, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has encouraged businesses to adopt digital platforms and multi-channel sales models.
