Vietnam Interior Minister Orders Completion of Nationwide Community Unit Merger

At a fourth‑session party committee meeting of the Ministry of Interior on 13 July, Minister Do Thanh Binh stressed the need to finalise the draft regulations governing the merger of community‑level units across the country. He urged senior officials to review six‑month performance, clarify results, set directions for the second half of the year, and tighten supervision and discipline. The minister called for rapid completion of the draft working regulations, a review of overlapping tasks, and the preparation of a national talent‑attraction strategy. He also directed the Organization Department to assess functions of subordinate units, the Local Government Department to report on the reorganisation of villages and hamlets, and the Civil Service Department to draft amendments to the law on outstanding contributors, all ahead of the 80‑year commemoration of the Vietnam War veterans.
