Vietnam Introduces Online Unemployment Insurance Application System

Vietnam's Ministry of Labor and Social Security is implementing online filing for unemployment insurance benefits through the National Public Service Portal. Workers can log in with a VNeID account, enter personal details, and upload termination documents without needing to submit physical insurance book copies. The digital system tracks applications, allows monthly job‑search reporting and early termination of benefits when new employment is found, provided the claim was filed online from the start.

The rollout follows the 2025 Labor Law, which also mandates greater transparency and public reporting of the Unemployment Insurance Fund. Experts say the reforms will reduce processing time and costs for claimants, improve fund oversight, and support the shift of Vietnam’s labor market from informal to formal employment.
