Vietnam issues safety directives for construction and tourism amid flood risks

The Ministry of Construction has ordered its subordinate agencies, state rail and road companies, and the construction departments of 15 provinces—including Điện Biên, Lai Châu, Sơn La and Hanoi—to proactively manage heavy rain, floods, landslides and related hazards. The directive calls for rapid inspection and repair of national roads, strict traffic control on flooded or landslide‑prone sections, and heightened safety checks on rail bridges, tunnels and vulnerable terrain. It also mandates that emergency resources be ready to restore traffic flow and protect workers and the public.

Separately, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a circular demanding tighter safety measures across the tourism sector. Provinces with coastal, island and inland water‑based attractions must audit boat, high‑speed vessel and other maritime transport operations, reinforce routes at risk of landslides or flooding, and ensure rescue equipment and procedures meet legal standards. The ministry urges tourists to stay informed about weather warnings and to follow safety instructions during severe storms.
