Vietnam launches 2026 university virtual admissions filtering
The Ministry of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) and Vietnamese universities began the six rounds of virtual admissions filtering ("lọc ảo") on 5 August, continuing until 17 h on 9 August. The process checks applicants' data, removes ineligible candidates, and ensures each student is admitted to only one of up to 15 listed preferences.
A new integrated admission formula is being used. At the University of Industry (IUH) the score combines 30 % high‑school grades with 70 % university entrance exam results; other schools apply similar composite methods. Experts say the shift in calculation method, rather than a rise in cutoff points, will keep most 2026 university score thresholds stable, especially for STEM programmes such as Electrical Engineering, Automation and Computer Science.
