Vietnam launches missions to recover martyr remains in Laos

Military units from Vietnam's Quang Tri and Ha Tinh provinces have launched missions to search for and recover the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos during the 2026-2027 dry season.

In Quang Tri, a team of 30 officers from Search and Recovery Team No. 1 has been deployed to Khammuane Province. The mission, running from September 5, 2026, to July 31, 2027, aims to locate and recover 50 sets of remains. The provincial military command has completed training and logistical preparations to ensure the mission's success.

In Ha Tinh, authorities have also organized deployment for tasks in Bolikhamsay Province and Vientiane Capital. Officials noted that the mission faces challenges due to complex weather patterns and the natural decomposition of remains over time. Cooperation with Lao authorities in Bolikhamsay and Vientiane has been established to facilitate the search operations.
