Vietnam launches nationwide motorcycle safety training campaign

Vietnam's Traffic Police Department has launched a nationwide campaign to train motorcycle riders in safe driving skills, running from August 10 to December 31, 2026. The initiative follows a period in the first seven months of 2026 where motorcycle-related road accidents accounted for over 90% of total incidents, resulting in 4,906 deaths and 4,726 injuries.

The campaign's primary targets include individuals who have held driver's licenses for over three years, those aged 30–50, frequent traffic violators, and students aged 16 to 18. Training will focus on basic traffic rules and accident prevention, such as navigating blind spots near large trucks, driving in adverse weather conditions, and managing difficult terrains like slopes and curves.

Implementation begins with data review and core force training, with nationwide instructional activities scheduled to start on September 1. Participants will learn through practical demonstrations, real-world video scenarios, and direct guidance from traffic police on designated routes or training grounds.
