Vietnam traffic police crack down on highway and road violations
Vietnam's Traffic Police Department has reported several recent traffic violations and issued warnings regarding road safety and driver training.
In Hanoi, a driver was fined 23 million VND and lost 6 license points for using the emergency lane to cut off another vehicle and braking abruptly on Thang Long Boulevard. Additionally, police used camera footage to identify and penalize a group of youths in Hanoi for riding a motorcycle with three people without helmets and without licenses.
In Lao Cai, a student under the legal age was caught attempting to flee a police checkpoint while riding a motorcycle. The vehicle owner faced fines totaling 12 to 16 million VND for allowing an unqualified person to operate the vehicle.
Regarding driver education, many training centers have adjusted their practical routes, avoiding two-lane highways and specific lanes following directives from the Ministry of Construction. The Traffic Police Department also warned that improper behavior by student drivers could lead to bad habits and increased accident risks. Furthermore, authorities addressed issues of slow-moving vehicles on highways, noting that drivers traveling below minimum speeds in the leftmost lane without moving to the right face fines and license suspension.
