Vietnam leverages National Day to boost cultural tourism

Vietnam is looking to leverage its National Day celebrations to boost international tourism by transforming historical and cultural festivities into specialized travel products. The holiday period, characterized by street decorations, historical site visits, and various artistic activities, presents an opportunity to attract foreign travelers seeking authentic local experiences.

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), the country welcomed approximately 13.9 million international visitors during the first seven months of 2026, representing a 13.8% increase compared to the previous year. This figure accounts for roughly 56% of the annual target.

Industry experts note a global shift toward heritage and cultural tourism. Huynh Thi Mai Thy, Country Director of Traveloka Vietnam, highlighted that travelers are increasingly interested in exploring local life through gastronomy, museums, traditional craft villages, and community festivals. VNAT has encouraged local authorities to organize cultural events to mark the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day to further support this growth.
