A large-scale operation is underway in Vietnam to identify fallen soldiers through DNA testing. On September 11, 13,563 remains samples were transported via military aircraft from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City to Gia Lam Airport in Hanoi.

The samples, which were sealed in 144 specialized containers covered with the national flag, originated from Dong Nai (4,651 samples), Tay Ninh (5,287 samples), and Lam Dong (3,625 samples). Upon arrival in Hanoi, the samples were handed over to the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for analysis.

This effort is part of a broader national campaign to locate and identify war martyrs. In other regions, such as Thanh Hoa and Khanh Hoa, local authorities have also completed significant sampling tasks at various cemeteries to support the identification process and provide closure to families of the deceased.
