Authorities in Vietnam have transported 13,563 samples of martyr remains to Hanoi for DNA testing and identity verification. The samples were collected from the provinces of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Lam Dong.

On September 11, 2026, the samples were delivered via military transport aircraft to Gia Lam airport. The remains were packed into 144 specialized, sealed containers and covered with the national flag during the transfer ceremony. The samples are being handed over to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Military Institute of Forensic Science.

This operation is part of the ‘500 Days and Nights Campaign’ to intensify the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers. In addition to DNA testing, authorities are utilizing technology such as ground-penetrating radar in Quang Tri and digital tools like QR codes and social media to assist in the search and connect with families.
