Vietnam Ministry of Education introduces AI curriculum and vocational teacher standards

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training has introduced new regulations and curricula aimed at modernizing the national education system.

Under Circular 64/2026/TT-BGDĐT, new professional standards and job titles have been established for vocational high school teachers. The regulation categorizes teachers into three distinct ranks (I, II, and III) to align with the national teacher system. This framework aims to standardize training requirements, professional ethics, and salary scales, specifically addressing the need for teachers to combine pedagogical skills with practical vocational expertise.

Additionally, the Ministry has released a framework for artificial intelligence (AI) education, which will be implemented nationwide for general education students starting in the 2026-2027 school year. The curriculum includes 12 core periods per class per year, focusing on essential AI knowledge, critical thinking, and ethical usage. Schools may deliver this through specialized topics, integration into existing subjects, or voluntary extracurricular activities like clubs to avoid increasing student workload.
