Vietnam Ministry of Education launches green school project

The Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Green Future Fund of Vingroup, has launched the ‘Building Green Schools with Children’ project. This initiative is a component of the ‘Green Education, Green Sports’ cooperation agreement for the 2023–2028 period.

Led by the Department of Science, Technology and Information, the project aims to foster environmentally friendly lifestyles and behaviors among administrators, teachers, and students. It targets 200 schools nationwide between 2024 and 2028. The program utilizes the ‘7R’ model to encourage waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and sustainable management practices within educational institutions.

Key objectives include developing a ‘Green School’ model and a set of evaluation indices to turn environmental education goals into actionable criteria. Long-term goals involve creating a research database, a Green School Map, and a National Green School Exhibition, while helping exemplary schools access international environmental awards.
