Vietnam Ministry of Education warns 2026 university applicants of registration pitfalls

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) opened the online portal for 2026 university and college admissions on July 3, with about 213,000 applicants already registered. The system will remain open until 17:00 on July 14, and officials expect the busiest period to be from July 7 to July 12.

MOET officials highlighted five common mistakes that could cause candidates to lose their chance: registering too close to the deadline, failing to confirm changes with the OTP code, not monitoring programme-specific minimum score thresholds (point‑floor), overlooking the new 15‑point minimum requirement for the high‑school graduation exam composite, and arranging preferences in an incorrect order. The portal now automatically orders preferences from 1 upward, but applicants must still verify each change with the OTP. The ministry will publish point‑floor values for health, teacher‑training and law programmes, and warned that the system will not flag applications that fall below those thresholds.

Applicants are advised to complete their registration by July 10‑12, double‑check all entries, and ensure they meet the minimum score criteria before the final deadline.
