Vietnam Ministry of Finance launches software to manage surplus land and housing
Vietnam's Ministry of Finance has launched a new software system designed to digitize and centralize the management of surplus land and housing assets. The initiative aims to replace fragmented paper-based reporting with a unified national database to track the progress of asset reorganization and disposal.
During a recent training session, officials from the Department of Public Property Management instructed various ministries and local authorities on how to use the platform. The process involves a two-step data entry method: first, inputting basic information such as location, managing unit, asset value, and current status; and second, updating the specific outcomes once disposal or exploitation decisions are finalized.
This digital transition is part of a broader government effort to accelerate the handling of assets resulting from administrative restructuring and organizational streamlining. Under current mandates, the approval of reorganization and exploitation plans for surplus land and housing must be completed by the third quarter of 2026. Furthermore, all assets arising before July 1, 2026, must be fully processed and utilized within that same year.
