Vietnam Ministry of Finance strengthens price control measures

The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance is implementing synchronized measures to manage prices, control inflation, and stabilize the macroeconomy. These actions aim to protect citizens' livelihoods following the adjustment of the base salary on July 1, 2026, and amidst global pressures such as Middle East geopolitical tensions and fluctuating energy prices.

To ensure market stability, the Ministry is coordinating with various sectors to monitor supply and demand, forecast inflation, and develop appropriate response scenarios. Authorities have been directed to closely inspect price listings, prevent hoarding, and penalize unreasonable price manipulation. For regions experiencing higher-than-average Consumer Price Index (CPI) increases, the Ministry has requested in-depth analyses to determine specific corrective measures.

Simultaneously, domestic consumption remains a key driver of economic growth, with retail sales and consumer service revenue increasing by 13.3% in the first nine months of 2026. To sustain this momentum through the fourth quarter, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is encouraging businesses to adopt multi-channel sales models and digital platforms, particularly to support small and medium enterprises in remote areas.
