Vietnam announces 2027 Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedules
The Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the official holiday schedules for the 2027 Lunar New Year and National Day for civil servants, public employees, and workers in enterprises.
For the 2027 Lunar New Year, civil servants and public employees will receive a 7-day continuous break from Thursday, February 4, to Wednesday, February 10, 2027. This includes five statutory holiday days and two compensatory days off due to weekly rest days coinciding with the holiday.
For National Day, the holiday period will span four consecutive days from Thursday, September 2, to Sunday, September 5, 2027, comprising two statutory holidays and two weekend days.
Private sector enterprises are granted flexibility in scheduling the Lunar New Year break. Employers may choose from three different arrangements to ensure a total of five holiday days, provided they notify employees at least 30 days in advance. These options involve varying the distribution of days taken at the end of the Year of the Horse and the beginning of the Year of the Goat. The Ministry emphasized that holiday arrangements must not be shorter than the minimum requirements set by the Labor Code.
