Vietnam Ministry of Home Affairs proposes 2027 holiday schedules
The Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed two options for the 2027 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday schedule for civil servants, public employees, and workers.
Under Option 1, the holiday would last seven consecutive days, from Thursday, February 4, 2027, to Wednesday, February 10, 2027. This includes five statutory holiday days plus two compensatory days off due to the overlap with weekly rest days.
Option 2 proposes a longer ten-day break, running from Friday, February 5, 2027, to Sunday, February 14, 2027. This plan involves one day before Tet, four days after Tet, two compensatory days, two weekend days, and one swapped working day. To facilitate this, the Ministry suggests swapping Friday, February 12, 2027, with Saturday, February 27, 2027.
Additionally, the Ministry has proposed a four-day continuous break for the 2027 National Day. For the New Year's Day holiday on January 1, 2027, workers are expected to have a three-day break when combined with the weekend. For employees in the enterprise sector, specific holiday schedules will be determined by employers based on actual conditions and legal regulations.
