Vietnam Ministry of Home Affairs proposes 2026-2027 holiday schedules

The Ministry of Home Affairs has submitted proposals to the Government regarding holiday schedules for upcoming years in Vietnam.

For the inaugural Vietnam Culture Day in 2026, the Ministry proposes a four-day continuous break from Saturday, November 21, to Tuesday, November 24. This would involve swapping the workday on Monday, November 23, with Saturday, November 28. The proposal aims to encourage social participation in cultural activities and boost tourism and services.

Regarding the 2027 Lunar New Year (Tet), the Ministry has proposed a seven-day holiday for civil servants and public employees, running from Thursday, February 4, to Wednesday, February 10, 2027. This includes five statutory holiday days and two compensatory days due to the overlap with weekends. For workers in the corporate sector, employers are encouraged to choose between two flexible options to accommodate business needs while ensuring employee rights.

Additionally, the Ministry has submitted plans for a four-day National Day holiday in 2027.
