Vietnam Ministry of Home Affairs proposes extended holiday schedules

The Ministry of Home Affairs has submitted proposals to the Government regarding holiday schedules for 2026 and 2027 to facilitate public activities and tourism.

For 2027, the Ministry proposed a four-day National Day holiday running from Thursday, September 2, through Sunday, September 5. This would allow civil servants and public employees to observe the holiday and an adjacent day.

Regarding the inaugural Vietnam Culture Day in 2026, the Ministry suggested a four-day break from Saturday, November 21, to Tuesday, November 24. To achieve this, the proposal includes swapping the working day of Monday, November 23, to Saturday, November 28. This arrangement aims to encourage community participation in cultural events and support the tourism and service sectors. Eleven out of twelve consulted agencies expressed full agreement with the four-day holiday plan.
