Vietnam mountain passes face traffic restrictions for landslide repairs
Authorities in Vietnam are implementing traffic restrictions and repair works on several mountain passes following landslide damage.
On National Highway 27C, specifically at Khanh Le Pass in Khanh Hoa Province, traffic will be temporarily suspended for up to one hour per session at two specific landslide locations. These measures, scheduled through September 15, aim to ensure safety during the reinforcement of mountain slopes using high-strength steel mesh and rockfall barriers. The project addresses infrastructure damage caused by heavy flooding.
Similarly, on National Highway 28 at Gia Bac Pass in Lam Dong Province, repair efforts for landslides occurring since late 2025 remain ongoing. The area is currently characterized by muddy and slippery road conditions. Construction has faced delays due to difficult terrain, frequent rainfall, and administrative procedures regarding forest land conversion. Local authorities have advised travelers to limit passage through the pass and seek alternative routes, with completion targeted for the end of October.
