Vietnam road infrastructure and safety management

Authorities in Vietnam are addressing various infrastructure challenges and safety concerns across the national transport network.

Initial efforts focused on repairing landslide damage on mountain passes. In Khanh Hoa Province, traffic restrictions were implemented on National Highway 27C at Khanh Le Pass to allow for slope reinforcement using steel mesh and rockfall barriers. In Lam Dong Province, repair work continued on Gia Bac Pass along National Highway 28 to address landslides and slippery conditions caused by heavy rainfall and difficult terrain.

More recently, the focus has expanded to broader road degradation and construction safety. In Ha Tinh province, officials requested urgent repairs for a severely deteriorated section of National Highway 1, noting that previous maintenance had been insufficient to combat damage from extreme weather. Additionally, the Vietnam Road Administration issued directives regarding the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway construction following a safety incident involving a vehicle falling into a construction pit. Authorities are now demanding stricter adherence to safety protocols, including the use of warning signs and barriers, to prevent further accidents.
