Vietnam National Assembly approves new Interior Minister

The Vietnamese National Assembly, chaired by Trần Thanh Mẫn with Vice‑Chair Nguyễn Thị Thanh, adopted resolutions 32/2026/QH16 and 33/2026/QH16. The resolutions dismiss Đỗ Thanh Bình from the post of Minister of Interior for the 2026‑2031 term and appoint Nguyễn Tiến Hải, a member of the Party Central Committee, as his successor.

The Standing Committee also approved provincial personnel changes: Hoàng Văn Kiên was relieved of his role as Vice‑Chair of the Ninh Bình Provincial People's Council effective 28 July 2026, while Lý Công Hậu was elected Vice‑Chair of the Lai Châu Provincial People's Council effective 31 July 2026. Additionally, a new advisory team of 14 members, led by a Deputy Secretary‑General, was created to assist the Secretary‑General of the National Assembly in its duties.
