Vietnam National Assembly concludes extraordinary session
The 16th National Assembly of Vietnam has concluded its first extraordinary session after 17 days of intensive work. During this session, the National Assembly passed 15 laws and 6 regulatory resolutions, while providing initial opinions on seven other draft laws. The legislative actions aim to resolve practical difficulties, improve institutional frameworks, and promote decentralization and administrative simplification to support citizens and businesses.
Key outcomes include the approval of seven strategic resolutions designed to foster infrastructure connectivity, energy security, and urban development to support national growth targets. Notably, the Law on Urban Development is expected to empower local authorities, such as the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, with greater autonomy to issue legal norms without waiting for government decrees. This decentralization is intended to help cities more proactively address emerging issues and attract strategic investors.
