Vietnam National Assembly reviews airport connectivity and nuclear power proposals
The Vietnamese National Assembly is reviewing several major infrastructure and development proposals. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh has submitted a proposal to relocate three provincial-level historical sites in Bac Ninh province. These sites—Tan Tran Temple, Dong Co Communal House, and Tam Son Communal House—would be moved to facilitate the construction of a connecting road for the Gia Binh International Airport and a People's Public Security Air Force Regiment barracks. This project is noted as a critical task to ensure the airport and connecting routes are completed in time for the 2027 APEC Summit.
Separately, the government has proposed splitting the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project into three independent projects to resolve legal and procedural obstacles. The proposed split includes a compensation and resettlement project, Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant 1, and Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant 2. This restructuring aims to allow each project to proceed with its own specific investors, timelines, and investment methods without being delayed by the others. The Committee on Science, Technology and Environment has expressed support for this proposal to streamline the implementation of the nuclear energy initiative.
