BRICS Summit in New Delhi adopts New Delhi Declaration FAST-MOVING
The 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi has concluded with the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Declaration. Leaders from the expanded bloc, including China, Russia, India, South Africa, Iran, and the UAE, addressed critical global issues ranging from economic cooperation to geopolitical conflicts.
President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of the Global South and proposed a BRICS-AI Based New Industrialization Initiative to foster technological cooperation. He also called for the rejection of protectionism and a commitment to the multilateral trading system. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that BRICS nations accounted for over 40% of global GDP in the last five years, highlighting the bloc's growing economic influence.
On the diplomatic front, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held discussions aimed at resolving long-standing border issues and stabilizing bilateral relations. Additionally, Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng met with Prime Minister Modi to discuss increasing bilateral trade to 25 billion USD and enhancing cooperation in digital transformation and clean energy.
The declaration also voiced deep concern regarding the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. Leaders called for maximum restraint in the Middle East and expressed opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza. Furthermore, the bloc raised concerns regarding nuclear security and the protection of civilian nuclear facilities under international safeguards.
