Vietnam PM Lê Minh Hung secures energy and trade deals on Russia visit
Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hung conducted a working visit to the Russian Federation from 16‑19 June 2026. He met President Vladimir Putin in Kazan and took part in the commemorative ASEAN‑Russia summit marking 35 years of relations. During the trip he highlighted Vietnam’s role as a bridge between Russia and Southeast Asia and announced that Vietnam will host the ASEAN‑Russia Young Diplomats summit in 2027.
The delegation signed several cooperation documents, including a nuclear power agreement for the Ninh Thuan 1 plant, energy and oil‑gas partnerships between PetroVietnam and Russia’s Zarubezhneft, Novatek and Rosatom, and a protocol of cooperation between the chambers of commerce of Tatarstan and Vietnam. These accords aim to deepen trade, investment and energy security ties between the two countries.
