Vietnam PM Le Minh Hung leads delegation to ASEAN‑Russia summit in Kazan
Prime Minister of Vietnam Le Minh Hung will head a senior Vietnamese delegation to the 35th‑anniversary ASEAN‑Russia summit in Kazan, Russia, from 16 to 18 June 2026, after receiving an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting marks the first visit of Vietnam’s prime minister to Russia in his new office and underscores the two‑sided commitment to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Vietnam aims to act as a bridge for ASEAN‑Russia cooperation, coordinating the dialogue for the 2027‑2030 period. The agenda focuses on expanding collaboration in trade, science and technology, digital transformation, non‑traditional security, energy, education and tourism. Vietnam also intends to share its experience in linking ASEAN with the Eurasian Economic Union, promoting broader Asia‑European integration.
The summit is portrayed as a key step in deepening political, economic and cultural ties between the ASEAN bloc and Russia, with Vietnam positioning itself as a central facilitator of future joint initiatives.
