Vietnam PM meets Putin at ASEAN‑Russia summit in Kazan
The ASEAN‑Russia Commemorative Summit took place in Kazan on 17‑18 June 2026, marking the 35th anniversary of the partnership. Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoai Trung described the outcomes as “very positive and comprehensive,” highlighting a new framework for cooperation covering 2026‑2030.
Prime Minister Lê Minh Hung met Russian President Vladimir Putin, and also held talks with leaders of Rosatom and Zarubezhneft. The summit adopted the Declaration of Kazan 2026 and announced a joint energy cooperation pillar, as well as discussions on Eurasian integration, transport corridors, logistics and science‑technology links.
Vietnam proposed mechanisms to boost ASEAN‑EAEU business dialogue and pledged to host the 2027 ASEAN‑Russia summit of young diplomats. The event underscored Vietnam’s strategic role in deepening ties between Southeast Asia and Russia.
