Vietnam police and Vietcombank help return 50 million VND after mistaken transfer in Đắk Lắk

Police in Đông Hòa ward, Đắk Lắk province, Vietnam, worked with Vietcombank's local branch after a resident, Võ Hồng Huy, discovered a 50 million‑dong (≈US$2,000) deposit in his personal account that had been sent in error. The investigation traced the sender to Trần Mạnh Trung, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City, who had mistakenly entered the wrong account number during an electronic bank transfer.

After confirming the mistake, Võ Hồng Huy voluntarily returned the full amount to Trần Mạnh Trung on 20 July 2026, in the presence of police officers and bank officials. The police used the incident to remind the public to double‑check transfer details and to report any erroneous payments promptly.

The case demonstrates coordination between local law‑enforcement and financial institutions in resolving mistaken electronic transfers.
