Vietnam police bust land‑document loan scams in Nghệ An and Đà Nẵng

In Hoàng Mai, Nghệ An, police and Agribank staff stopped a fraud after a 55‑year‑old woman presented a land‑use certificate to obtain a VND 100 million loan for a foreign‑based partner. Bank officials flagged irregularities, alerted local police, and the victim was warned before any money was transferred, averting the loss.

In Đà Nẵng, investigators arrested 48‑year‑old Nguyen Thi Thanh Thảo and began a criminal case after she convinced two women to lend her a total of VND 835 million, promising to secure a market stall and land certificate. The funds were instead used to repay personal debts and for personal expenses. The victims, aged 57 and 65, were left with significant losses while police continue the investigation.
