Vietnam police crack down on traffic safety violations in Thanh Hóa and Phú Thọ

The Thanh Hóa provincial police released a list of 221 motorbike and car owners who violated traffic safety rules between 21 June and 30 June. The primary offenses were drivers not wearing seat‑belt restraints and motorcyclists not wearing helmets. Under Decree 168, violators must pay fines of 800,000 – 1,000,000 VND and appear at a one‑stop traffic police office within 30 days, after which further administrative warnings may be issued.

In Phú Thọ, investigators charged 23‑year‑old Bùi Văn Bảo with “obstructing officials” after he fled a traffic checkpoint while driving an unlicensed, modified trailer truck. Police pursued the vehicle for about 130 km before stopping it on the Nội Bài–Lào Cai highway. Bảo lacked a driving licence and deliberately ignored stop commands, endangering officers and other road users. He now faces criminal prosecution for the dangerous resistance to law‑enforcement orders.
