Vietnam police enforce Decree 168 traffic fines on over 750 vehicles

Provincial traffic police in Vietnam have issued late‑payment fines to owners of 884 motorbikes and cars that violated traffic rules between late June and early July. In Cao Bằng province, authorities identified 69 violations from June 24‑30 through traffic‑camera monitoring and required owners to settle fines at the local traffic police office. Hưng Yên province reported 155 vehicles cited for traffic infractions in the week of June 29‑July 5, while Bắc Ninh province detected 660 speeding cases over the same period.

The fines are imposed under Decree 168, which takes effect on 1 January 2025. Penalties range from VND 800,000 to 14 million for speeding offenses, and from VND 4 million to 6 million for running red lights, with accompanying driver‑license point deductions. The police have warned that non‑compliance will lead to coordination with local authorities at the violators' place of residence or registration.
