Vietnam police fine 828 vehicles for traffic violations
The traffic police departments of three Vietnamese provinces – Bắc Ninh, Ninh Bình and Thanh Hoá – identified 828 vehicle owners with unpaid traffic fines (phạt nguội) for offences such as speeding and running red lights. Over the week of 6‑12 July 2026, they recorded 541 speed‑limit breaches in Bắc Ninh, 133 cases in Ninh Bình and 154 in Thanh Hoá, urging owners to check their records and settle the penalties.
In a separate case in Ninh Bình, a truck driver who ran a red light on 12 July 2026 was fined 18‑20 million VND and had four licence‑point deductions after a complaint was filed through the VNeTraffic mobile app. Authorities encouraged continued public reporting of traffic violations to improve road safety.
