Phú Thọ driver fined nearly 500 million VND for 96 traffic violations
A driver in Phú Thọ, Vietnam, has been fined nearly 500 million VND after AI surveillance cameras recorded 96 traffic violations involving a Matiz vehicle (license plate 29A-647.21). The majority of the infractions were speeding offenses recorded on Nguyễn Tất Thành Street during July.
Upon further investigation, authorities identified three additional violations: operating without valid compulsory civil liability insurance, driving a vehicle without a valid technical safety and environmental protection certificate, and failing to complete ownership transfer procedures.
The Traffic Police Department explained that the owner did not receive previous violation notices because the vehicle had changed hands multiple times without the required registration updates, causing notifications to be sent to an outdated address in Hanoi. Legal experts noted that abandoning the vehicle does not exempt the owner from the financial obligation to pay the fines.
