Vietnam police warn of 25 cyber fraud scenarios

Vietnamese police have identified 25 common cyber fraud scenarios, warning of increasingly sophisticated methods used to steal assets. Criminals are leveraging social media, digital banking, and electronic payment methods to manipulate victims.

The warning highlights five primary categories of deception. These include impersonating government agencies, banks, or schools to solicit personal information or OTP codes. Another major threat involves the use of artificial intelligence, specifically Deepfake and DeepVoice technologies, to forge the images and voices of relatives or officials to request urgent fund transfers.

Additionally, scammers are utilizing fraudulent job advertisements promising high pay for easy work, as well as fake investment opportunities in stocks and cryptocurrency. Other tactics include online shopping scams involving forged transaction receipts.
