Vietnam Politburo Sets Rules on Asset Seizure and Staff Reduction

The Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam issued a directive (No. 06) to research mechanisms for seizing and disposing of assets without a criminal conviction. The guideline calls for stronger preventive measures, transparent legal standards and the protection of the public interest while ensuring that the prosecution‑supervision system remains a pillar of justice.

In a separate conclusion (No. 40), the Politburo ordered a 5‑10% reduction of political‑system staffing by 2026, introducing data‑driven management, stricter performance metrics and the elimination of positions kept for personal or local interests. The plan prioritises strategic sectors such as science, technology and digital transformation, and ties staff allocation to national development goals.
