Vietnam Post expands into mobile services and digital mapping

Vietnam Post is expanding its digital and telecommunications footprint through the development of the Vmap digital mapping platform and entry into the mobile services market.

The Vmap platform, part of the Digital Vietnamese Knowledge System project, aims to provide a localized alternative to existing mapping services. It currently features over 23 million addresses, including detailed information for alleys and rural areas. Future updates planned for the platform include integrating information layers regarding food safety and the environment.

Additionally, Vietnam Post has officially entered the mobile telecommunications sector as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). Following licensing from the Authority of Telecommunications, the company is launching Pottel, a travel SIM brand specifically designed for international tourists visiting Vietnam. The company intends to leverage its network of approximately 13,000 service points nationwide to distribute mobile services, including voice, messaging, and internet access.
