Vietnam's 2026 High‑School Graduation Exam Records Over 1.2 Million Candidates

Vietnam is preparing for the 2026 national high‑school graduation exam, the largest ever with more than 1.2 million students registered across 34 provinces and cities. The exam, held from 10‑12 June, will be administered at over 2,500 test sites and nearly 50 000 rooms. Ho Chi Minh City has the highest enrollment, with 142 899 candidates, requiring 248 venues, 5 955 rooms and a workforce of more than 20 000 staff and volunteers.

The Ministry of Education and Training and public security have coordinated extensive security measures, including 24‑hour monitoring of test‑paper production, strict control of transport, and anti‑cheating protocols targeting high‑technology devices and AI‑based attempts. Police have deployed thousands of officers to guard venues and enforce strict prohibitions on electronic devices.

Students are also engaging in traditional practices ahead of the exam, such as offering incense at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi. Media reports note a range of personal preparations, from checking identification documents to coping with the pressure of the high‑stakes test that also determines university admissions. The exam marks the first administration after a nationwide administrative merger that reduced the number of provincial units from 63 to 34, changing logistics and increasing the scale of the operation.
