Hanoi drives 11% GRDP goal with growth push and infrastructure projects

Hanoi reported that its gross regional domestic product rose 8.22% in the first half of 2026, surpassing the national average but still below the city’s target of 10.36% for the period. Officials aim to raise the annual GRDP growth to 11% by the end of the year. The city’s fiscal revenue reached 404,418 billion VND, 62.2% of the plan, while tourism showed a 28.7% increase in international visitors, generating 74.23 billion VND. Industrial output grew 7.91%, contributing 1.10 percentage points to GRDP, and 11 new industrial zones were approved. In total, 18,978 new enterprises were registered, bringing the number of operating firms to 440,796.

President Tô Lâm urged Hanoi to accelerate growth and improve development quality. The city’s Party Committee approved a public‑private partnership plan to revamp the 61.5 km Nhuệ River, allocating about 75,115 billion VND for dike reinforcement, dredging, pollution control and the construction of 13 wastewater‑treatment plants, to be completed by 2030.

Hanoi also progressed on its land‑management digitalisation, updating data for over 2.12 million of more than 4.1 million parcels (about 51% coverage). The administration set a July‑August timetable to clean and enrich the database, aiming for full coverage of all land and apartment records by year‑end.
