Vietnam Prime Minister abolishes 66 outdated legal documents

The Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 41/2026/QĐ‑TTg, which will take effect on 1 October 2026. The decree repeals in full 66 legal documents previously issued by the Prime Minister, including decisions dating from 1993 on cultural policy, 1999 on overseas Vietnamese, 2003 on minority cultural preservation, 2006 on customs officer pensions, 2011 on bamboo‑rattan industry promotion, 2017 on academic credit transfer, and 2021 on vocational training support for unemployed workers.

In addition, the decision partially revokes three specific measures: the 2001 decree establishing a debt‑management company, the 2016 decree creating the animal disease control steering committee, and the 2021 decree extending special financial mechanisms for certain state agencies. The Ministry of Justice noted that many older decrees remained technically in force despite no longer being applied, prompting the need for this comprehensive cleanup to ensure legal transparency and compliance with Vietnam’s laws on the issuance of normative documents.
