Vietnam Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng Reaffirms IMF Partnership and Sustainable Growth Plan

Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng met with outgoing IMF Regional Resident Representative Jochen Schmittmann and incoming representative Fazurin Jamaludin in Hanoi, praising the International Monetary Fund as a strategic policy adviser for Vietnam’s development. He highlighted the recent resolution of the 14th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee that renews the country’s development model, setting goals to reach upper‑middle‑income status by 2030 and high‑income status by 2045. The Prime Minister said Vietnam will deepen fiscal discipline, develop its capital market and reduce reliance on bank credit while maintaining macro‑economic stability and financial security. Hưng also noted that upcoming National Assembly sessions will review and adopt draft laws to improve institutions and align Vietnam’s legal framework with international standards, aiming to create a safer, more attractive environment for investors and businesses.
