Vietnam prioritizes technology and innovation for new growth model
Vietnam is implementing a new economic growth model centered on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. According to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, these elements are identified as strategic breakthroughs essential for the country's development.
The policy framework, which includes several other resolutions regarding private sector development and international integration, aims to place businesses at the center of the innovation ecosystem. A key component of this shift is Decision No. 2815/QD-TTg, which establishes a list of six priority strategic technology products intended to drive double-digit growth.
Despite these policy shifts, experts note a gap between orientation and practical application. Dao Ngoc Chien, Director of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted), indicated that while the government has allocated resources for strategic technology, the implementation of these tasks is still in its initial stages and faces institutional and market bottlenecks.
