Vietnam promotes sustainable tourism through agriculture and regional links
Vietnam is advancing regional tourism development through specialized agricultural experiences and inter-provincial cooperation. In Quang Ninh province, Hoanh Mo commune is implementing a unique tourism model focused on high-tech agriculture and local livelihoods. The area utilizes its cool climate to cultivate various flowers and specialty crops, including Atlantic Giant pumpkins, to attract visitors for educational and experiential tours.
Additionally, Hoanh Mo is leveraging its forest ecosystem by transforming rare medicinal herbs into wellness services, such as traditional herbal baths based on Dao Thanh Phan remedies. This approach aims to add value to local natural resources beyond raw material sales.
On a broader scale, tourism authorities from Ho Chi Minh City and several northern and North Central provinces, including Cao Bang and Nghe An, are seeking to strengthen regional links. During a recent seminar, Cao Bang proposed developing themed travel routes, such as a “Following Ho Chi Minh’s Footsteps” tour, to connect historical sites across different provinces and promote sustainable, nature-based tourism.
