Vietnam provinces allocate billions of dong to social welfare programs

The provincial government of Cao Bằng has mobilised more than VND 950 billion for poverty‑reduction and disaster‑relief programmes covering 2021‑2026, with contributions from local businesses exceeding VND 360 billion. The funds support construction and repair of houses for thousands of poor households, school and cultural‑center projects, and distribution of food and essential goods during floods and landslides.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the municipal administration earmarked VND 179 billion for July‑2026 to provide gifts and assistance to persons with meritorious service and to poor families. The city also announced related policies on high‑tech talent development and a long‑term urban master plan, but the immediate focus is the direct financial aid to vulnerable residents.
