Vietnam provinces respond to landslides and flooding

Heavy rainfall across Vietnam's South Central and Central Highlands regions has triggered landslides and flooding, threatening residential areas and disrupting transportation. In provinces such as Quảng Ngãi and Lâm Đồng, landslides have blocked roads and caused ground subsidence, posing direct risks to dozens of households. In Lâm Đồng, significant erosion at a resettlement area has threatened the safety of over 70 residents.

In response to these recurring threats, local authorities and communities are implementing various mitigation strategies. In Đắk Lắk, the provincial government is accelerating the construction of 100 community houses designed for flood refuge, with an investment of nearly 171 billion VND.

In flood-prone areas like Quang Loc, residents have transitioned from reactive measures to proactive living. This includes the construction of two-story flood-resistant homes and early preparation of livestock, food supplies, and transportation to ensure safety during rising water levels.
