Vietnam rolls out TinAI? campaign to improve information verification
The Department of Cybersecurity and High‑Tech Crime Prevention under Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security launched the nationwide TinAI? campaign at Phenikaa University in Hanoi on 31 July. The effort, organized together with the Digital Trust Alliance and the National Cybersecurity Association and supported by fintech firm MoMo and Vietnam Television (VTV), carries the slogan “Verify Before You Trust.”
The campaign aims to develop a habit of checking the source, context and authenticity of online content, thereby reducing the spread of fake news and misinformation as artificial intelligence makes it easier to create convincing images, videos, voice recordings and stories. Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh, director of the Department, warned that AI “blurs the line between truth and falsehood” and stressed that safeguarding cybersecurity also means protecting public trust. He added that while AI offers “enormous opportunities,” tools alone cannot replace human judgement in verifying information.
The initiative seeks to equip citizens with verification skills, promote responsible sharing, and strengthen societal resilience against misinformation in the digital age.
