Vietnam Pushes AI Integration Across Banking Sector

Vietnam is accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence in its banking industry. At the Digital Trust in Finance 2026 forum, officials highlighted the need to protect users as AI reshapes financial services, noting that cyber‑crime losses could exceed 8,000 billion dongs by 2025.

More than 70 % of Vietnamese credit institutions have deployed AI and machine learning to streamline operations, improve customer experience, and strengthen risk management. Banks are using AI‑powered chatbots, virtual assistants, fraud‑detection tools, credit‑scoring models and automated advisory services. Digital‑channel transactions now represent 95 % to 99.5 % of total activity, and some banks have built super‑apps that combine hundreds of products.

Industry leaders say AI is moving from isolated pilots to an embedded infrastructure layer, though scaling the technology requires investment in data, computing capacity, cybersecurity and staff retraining. The shift promises faster service, better fraud prevention and more personalized offerings, but costs may rise before measurable benefits are realised.
