Vietnam has approved a comprehensive plan to restructure its national science, technology, and innovation programs for the 2026-2035 period. The initiative aims to reorganize existing programs into six streamlined and synchronized groups to ensure seamless transitions between basic research, applied research, and commercialization.

Key objectives include focusing resources on mastering core and strategic technologies, as well as developing strategic technological products. The plan also seeks to provide scientific evidence for national policy-making and governance. By 2030, the government aims to have 100% of these programs monitored through a national digital management platform and intends to establish 30 regional-standard strong research groups.

In related infrastructure developments, the government is pushing for the selection of international consultants for the North-South high-speed railway project and has directed the preparation of a pre-feasibility study for a railway industry complex. Additionally, the Ministry of Construction is tasked with managing the development of this industrial complex to attract social resources and master technological applications.
